NA INOA LOMI | SIGNATURE LOMI LOMI MASSAGE

Our Signature Lomi Lomi massage brings ultimate relaxation and deep healing. Lomi Lomi is an ancient Hawaiian healing art, incorporating rhythmic movements and long forearm strokes that soothe from light to deep to realign the body, improve circulation, and induce overall well-being. Calibrated from light-to-deep for realignment of the skeletal system, each move encourages flow by removing blockages of tension from the mind, body, and spirit.

We open by setting the intention of healing with a Hawaiian chant. Continuing with traditional healing methods, our lomi lomi incorporates la’au lapa’au (plant medicine) in the form of tropical aromatherapy, warm basalt stones, and a relaxing foot ritual with a detoxifying plant-based scrub and warm towels. This treatment is best experienced as a full body massage, however if there are specific areas of tension, we will devote more time to those issues.

HAPAI LOMI | PRE and POST NATAL MASSAGE

Hapai lomi lomi massage is perfect for soothing our mothers-to-be as well as our new mothers. In this highly restorative treatment, our mothers lay on their sides and then shift to a propped up position on their backs. We use modified lomi lomi techniques in areas that are contraindicated for hapai clients, however our moms are still as pampered as ever with our deep therapeutic work. A special blend of la’au lapa’au oils is used to encourage relaxation of the mother and baby. A special opu (stomach) massage helps connect mother and child. For postpartum mothers, opu lomi lomi resets the body and encourages further mending within the body.

We open by setting the intention of healing with a Hawaiian chant specifically for the mothers and their unbroken chain of intuitive knowledge from the ancestors. LOMI 'ILI 'ILI | HOT STONE MASSAGE

Basalt stones are volcanic in nature and hold heat the heat of the earth. In this treatment, we infuse our traditional lomi lomi with warm that warm energy from the basalt stones, which melt areas of deep tension. Smoothed warm stones warm muscles and induce a deeper relaxation. This is a less invasive way to work deeply and yet still have surprising, therapeutic results.

KUA LUA | HAWAIIAN BACK WALKING

In this ancient Hawaiian treatment, we use our bare feet for our deepest therapeutic  and healing work. Kua Lua is also known as Hawaiian back-walking. We use the force of gravity to get through to the deep layers of muscles and align the bones. The ha, or divine breath, is used as we walk the back into the upper thoracic releasing pain from long-held patterns and injuries. The experience can be quite intense, but a lasting peace is felt long after the treatment because of the realignment of the skeletal system.

Please note that the client remains fully clothed in this session. This treatment is best after having experienced one of our other lomi lomi services. Consultation required.

108 KUNG FU | FORMS CLASS

Ignite a holistic practice and contemplative art that stretches a lifetime of physical health.

Intensity level: Low-Medium

Before Koa House, there was the infamous 108. We are probably most well known for our school, 108 Kung Fu back in Chinatown, SF from 2009-2017. What started as a fledgling park-group, evolved into a full-fledged commercial school amongst the San Francisco pantheon for about a decade – and we have now brought it to Denver! Everything you learn within this system is laser-focused to not only provide effective self-defense, but to also ignite a holistic practice and contemplative art that stretches a lifetime of practical benefits. Though steeped in deep authentic tradition, and lineage direct – our presentation is modern, with influences from Muay Thai & MMA to supplement.  You can check out a quick video from our time in Chinatown, here. Or, pick up our manual with art from Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy), here.

Form: Forms are choreographed sets either empty hand, or with ancient weapons. They are like physical catalogs of techniques and physical practices that have been passed down over centuries from the temples of old – now in you hands! The purpose is to offer fitness & self defense via martial intent, but to also pair a mental & spiritual practice alongside the physical.  StrikesRollsAnimal Inspirations, or even weapons like  Spears, DaggersSwordsRopes, and more – become metaphors and contemplations. The combined physical and contemplative practice truly make a unique offering – that we are sure you will love.

We teach the exact same curriculum for kids and adults, making it a great family endeavor. This class can be calibrated to meet any background, ability, and fitness level; and is a ranked art for all ages & backgrounds – No gloves or further equipment required.

MUAY THAI | KICK BOXING

Time to shred those calories and get in incredible shape!

Intensity Level: Mid-High

Learn  the art of 8 limbs in a fun and dynamic way. Our structure is a blend of traditional Muay Thai, with Dutch Kickboxing drills heavily influenced by the CSA striking system, and our own 108 system combined. Meaning, you will learn real technique, skills, and drills – not just another ‘cardio class’. We also add in unique techniques borrowed from Shaolin and Kung Fu based systems – folded within a program that develops precision technique, speed, cardio, and power while getting in the best shape of your life.

  • Bag & Power-Cardio Class: You will burn thousands of calories, increase cardio, and get super fit in this group class for all levels! We begin as a group, and will warm-up with calisthenics, shadow-boxing, and stretching together. You will then be paired with a 6ft. Thai style heavy bag, in which you will go over technique & combinations with max technique, speed, and power at a pushed pace. Corrections will be given as we go, and you will have a blast – Gloves required.

  • Pad & Skills Class: Another class to shred calories, and get in the best shape of your life! We will start as a group with calisthenics & stretching, and then partner-up with Thai pads and work on precision technique, timing, footwork, call-and-response, and general skill sets that a bag alone cannot offer – Gloves required.

Advanced & sparring by invite only.

TAI CHI | INTERNAL

Meditation in motion.

Intensity: Low

Tai Chi (taiji) is a softer, flowing art, which makes it an incredibly accessible art for any background, fitness level, or those looking to rehabilitate and simply move in a softer way — and for the martial artists, we see this area of training crucial. Attributes gained from this practice are deep tend to transcend all aspects of your life. Tai Chi is one our most high-level arts offered, and also one of our personal favorites.

Practice can be calibrated by the individual for intensity – whether you just want to flow, breathe, and gently step through the form, or if you want the real thing, most people cannot even make it through the first 3 postures without having to sit (or collapse) down! At the highest levels we uncover internal energetics on the deepest level. Regardless of your path – Tai Chi can be practiced at multiple entry points.

Within this class we will drill 1 section every week on a rotating curriculum, and also provide specific solo & auxiliary drills layered within each posture. Class will start with group led breathing & stretching, and we will step through the form and drills together. Corrections and higher-level items will be exposed as you advance, slowly peeling layers of more intensity to the learner. Advanced students will be able to ‘push-hands‘ (a martial game and diagnostic internal test), and we will also introduce more advanced internal arts like Hebei style Xing Yi, Bagua Zhang, and training protocols.

Style: We train Zheng Man Qing 37, as taught by the late master Zheng Man Qing, Benjamin Lo, & Scott Meredith.

Push hands by invite only.

YIN/YANG STRETCHING & FLOW

Flow with us – Stretch, strengthen, breathe & condition in this perfect mid-tempo balance of soft isometrics vs. dynamic power build session.

Intensity: Medium

This class offers a mid-tempo bodyweight and isometric flow session of the best hand-picked exercises from Chinese Yoga (Yijinjing, Yue Fei, Hua To), Qi Gong (breathing & stretching methods),  Vinyassa Flow Yoga, and  Shastarvidya. Each session will develop isometric strength, get you sweating, and increase flexibility levels while monitoring breath work.

KEIKI (KIDS CLASS)

Our kids program is a fully integrated approach to physical health, conflict resolution techniques, self-defense, positive mental development, teamwork, and real-world application. Stylistically, we train striking, take-downs, take-down defense, and basic ground defense and submissions.

We cycle between two types of classes weekly:

  • Forms: Following our 108 forms curriculum, keiki are challenged with coordinated physical marital training, physical conditioning,  memorization, and abstract thinking. The class is held under a familial group effort lens to encourage teamwork, leadership skills. We infuse martial games and challenges to keep the training a fun, enjoyable, and something they look forward to every week!

  • Skills: In this class, we work on conflict resolution techniques and situational self-defense. From observational skills, behavior signals, distance management, the power of words & voice, and situational self-defense. We will also break down mechanics of common strikes from Muay Thai, Kung Fu, escapes, holds and submissions from standing & ground (Jiujitsu). We infuse martial, and team games to make it enjoyable – and will end each class with a value of the month, and an optional fun project or contest for the month to encourage activation out side the mats.
